QUEER CRYPTIDS: A POLE DANCE AND BURLESQUE SHOW

Moonlight casts strange shadows on the forest floor, some comfortingly familiar, and others...less so. Figures known only in myth emerge from the trees and begin to congregate in the clearing. Mothman twirls on a narrow tree. The chupacabra bares a slim shoulder. And...is that a pair of pants?

Known only through rare sightings, conspiracy theories, and grainy security cam footage, cryptids find their home halfway between myth and reality. After a fateful Netflix glitch elevated the Babadook to queer icon, cryptids and the queer experience became inextricably linked. Welcome to the world of the Queer Cryptids.

On September 7th, Velvet Nox brings our spotlight to the dark forests and urban jungles where these cryptids lurk. Through burlesque, pole dance, chair dance and belly dance, these performers explore queer identity through the stories of the elusive cryptids.

Will our Reptilian Overlord find love? Will the Flatwoods Monster find acceptance? Will the Wendigo simply devour us all? Join us as we walk deeper into the woods than ever before, and let these cryptids show us their world on their terms.

This ticket is first come first serve, with access to second and third row seating equally, on any side of the stage, as well as lounge seating. It maybe be standing room only if all seats sell out.

Community Price General Admission Ticket - Strange Hearts

This is offered at a discount to those who want to join us in art but may find a full price ticket burdensome. We have never yet sold out of our community tickets, so do not be shy about choosing this option if it is needed.

This ticket may be lounge seating or standing room only if all seats are taken by the time you arrive. It is first come first serve. It is identical in all ways besides price to a General Admission ticket.

If paying digitally is a problem for you, you can email us at velvetnoxproductions@gmail.com to reserve a ticket and pay in cash at the door. Failure to arrive will result in losing the ability to reserve a ticket in this way for future shows, but will not otherwise affect your ability to buy a ticket- its just to help us keep it fair for everyone!

THIS IS NOT A TICKET FOR A SHOW, This is admission to an In-Person Workshop!

Date: June 25th (Thursday Night)

Stage Austin, 6134 E HWY 290, Austin TX.

Learn how to make Dev’s iconic makeup techniques work for your own face, and learn how to develop(pe) your own style! Techniques covered include “eyebrow math” , “everything you ever wanted to know about highlighters”, and more!

This two hour workshop is a great resource for anyone wanting to up their make up game, or just exploring their own stage makeup style! Open to all genders and persons, though unsafe behavior will get you ejected without a refund.

Focused on burlesque and drag style stage makeup, but anyone who is interested is welcome to attend and learn!

You will be expected to provide some make up, and will receive a list in advance of the workshop- feel free to message us if you have any questions on this point! Mirrors, tables, printouts, lights, and competent gremlin guidance will be provided.

WORKSHOP - Prop Presence with Lilith Allure- June 24th

Learn from the queen of absolutely bizarre and shockingly effective props! This two hour workshop is a great resource for anyone wanting to branch out into prop work, anyone who is object-curious, and anyone who has asked the age old question “how do I make my floor work visible on this funky stage”.

This class will cover how to move with and on nearly anything, methods for creating and choosing props, how props work as an extension of your energy on stage, and how they can help or hinder your connection to your audience and your act.

Focused on burlesque style performances, but anyone who is interested is welcome to attend and learn! All genders and persons are welcome, and unsafe behavior will get you ejected without a refund.

Props for experimenting and challenging yourself with will be provided. This class will involve some movement- dress in whatever way is most comfortable and empowering for you.
