A Note from Irene
Lovely viewers,
Thank you for joining us for our digital reprise of Grimm Delights!
Fairy tales have been an enthusiastic interest of mine for years- they reward patient deep dives and brief glances alike. The particular combination of oral folklore, transformed and transmitted over years through many people, which is often then funneled to a singular collection, usually by a singular mind creates a unique and odd kind of human expression. Contradictions and reiterations are equally abundant, and in every line, deep meaning is just as likely as complete silliness.
These performers have all brought to this show their years of training, their resilience, and their capacity to listen to their hearts and minds and make their bodies communicate that message. It’s been a strange, strange time to be human, and all of these performers had to hold onto their art with both hands — and sometimes, their teeth — so thank them if you can with your comments, your enthusiasm, and your generous tips. Though truly, your support of this show is wonderous on it’s own.
Speaking of an unsubtle transition, many many thanks for hauling this show together are due to the wonderful staff at Kickbutt Coffee, and the amazing Dan; our tech staff: Nell, Dave, Aly, Ernie; our stage crew Jeff, Ravenna, MK Ultra, Stormy September; our MC Dylan Yorrick; our producer sanity-support staff Patrick and Miché, and the various friends, family, and performers who have listened to me vent, bought me coffee, or solved huge problems with casual ideas throughout this show. May you be safe, may you thrive, may always find glitter in unexpected places.

Starring
Azul Rae
A wicked seductress... She knows how to use her talents to taunt & haunt, tease & please: be it on the pole, creating exquisite costumes and clothing, or strutting on stage... Azul Rae is a creative tempest to be reckoned with!

Cheyney Teagan
Cheyney Teagan is an Austin-based performer, specializing in Raqs Sharqi (“dance of the East”) and American Cabaret Style (aka “bellydance”), a derivative of Raqs Sharqi. Fusing these disciplines with her background in contemporary and classical dance stylings, Cheyney enjoys crafting story-driven, theatrical fusion pieces, and loves to interact with her audience! Community and connections with people are at the heart of her dance practice. When Cheyney isn’t dancing, she works on designing custom dance costumes and accessories, as well as producing dance shows that support local artists. She also leads the Austin chapter of “Shimmy Mob,” an international organization dedicated to raising awareness of and preventing domestic violence.

Cimmeria Steel
Cimmeria Steel, the sword-wielding sorceress! This theatrical performer creates spells that include pole dance, swords, fire, fusion dance, and singing, and she aims to cause as much lusty mischief as possible. When she's not imparting her dark knowledge to her pole students, Cimmeria is often found on the stages of Austin as a performer with Velvet Nox, Ivory Moth Productions, and Geekgasm Revue. Cimmeria would like to thank her friend, face and body paint artist Michelle Pulsifer, for her assistance in the design and build of tonight’s costume.

Irene Straddler
Irene Straddler has spent her life messing around in any dance field that will have her. She keeps trying to cram extra plot and symbolism into her pieces in the hope that the chaotic incoherence will pass as artistry. She is also the producer of Velvet Nox Productions, which hopefully you have heard of.

Lilith Allure
Lilith Allure hails from another realm. She is a blend of playful charm, raw intensity, and untamed sexuality. When she isn't casting spells over her audiences, she can be found dancing naked around bonfires and on poles, conjuring artistic creations, training her pet dragons, or teaching classes in Austin and Houston. In the words of Nikita Gill, "she wears strength and darkness equally well, the girl has always been half goddess and half Hell.”

Sonnie Boyson
Sonnie is an owner of the studio Laché Movement Co and the production and events company Fly Unfeathered. She practiced martial arts prior to falling in love with pole and aerials and bailing on the path of hitting people. She loves all things movement and sharing it with everyone she can. As you can see, her love of pole and aerials, and this amazing community, has taken over her life in the best way.

Tits McGee is a quirky story-teller in heels! The Poetic Tease has been performing her cheeky Burlesque musings around Austin for six years. Her broad dance, acro, and aerial background keeps audiences on their toes, and her deeply emotive style brings them to their knees. Whether she's being nerdy or classic, she's always here to take your mind and your heart on an odyssey.
